Why did the color matter?

December 11, 2007

In an article titled “A black women took my job” I was a bit offended first off by title. Simply because the guy added color on top of it being a women that took his job. That sounded to me like someone saying ” A women took my job, and to add on to it, the heffer was black!” That is exactly what comes to my mind when I see that. But for one, men as well as the world around them with some closed minded people still existing, shold really wake up! If someone is beter at the job or worked harder no matter what thier gender is. They should not be talked about for getting a higher position or getting a position that someone else went out for. Men especially need to grow up and smell the sucess and ralsize that women can do anything they can do, and sometimes even better. When god made us, he put muscles and a brain in us all, crating us all equal. And no ones color of thier skin or thier gender is better than any one elses. So in that case, you men and anyone else who does not undestand that EAT OUR SUCCESS!!! LOL

Maya Angelous “Phenomenal Women”

December 11, 2007

The poem Phenomenal Women brings up so many emotions, yet mainly it makes me feel so confident in myself. The author Maya Angelou herslef has always been an idol of mine. I just recently did a project on her and found out a cople of things that I really never even knew. She is a very inspirational women to me and her poem Phenomenal Women was one of the first poems I ever heard by her, and actually one of the first poems I ever fell in love with. The way she speaks of a women in this poem is Phenomenal! On how she does not walk with her head down, because of her pride, How she tries to explain herself to others, and they will never understand. A lot of feelings that she was expressing in this poem, I felt closely related to myself. And there are no others words to express my feelings for the poem “Phenomenal Women” because the title speaks for itself!

Men Menstruating

December 11, 2007

In the article “If Men Could Menustrate” by GLoria Steinmen. I thought that the title itself was quite funny. Because for one men are always making fun of women on how mean they are when they are on thier periods, and some go as far as making comments on how gross it is. Well when Steinmen sayed that menustration if men had it would become a boast worthy and masculine event, I could not agree more. Men are definetly over competitive in everything that they do. And I feel that if they brag on everyhting else, menustration would definetly not be left out, on how long they have been on or how much they have bled. Then who would be the discussting ones? It was especially funny to me, but also something I totally agreed with, was when she said that they would make comments like “I am a three-pad man,” now that definetly would be the talk of the century. But honestly this would probably be a great thing if men could a least experience it, so they would know what women go thorugh at that time, and maybe sympathise a little more.

My thoughts on “Biphobia”…

December 11, 2007

In his reading regarding “Biphobia”  by Marcia Diehl and Robyn Ochs. They were discussing some issues such as stereotypes and bisexuals. And one that was mentioned was the fact that they are confused or greedy. And I have absolutely nothing against bisexuals, because one of my best friends is and so are a couple of others that I associate with. But there are a couple of my friends in particular who I am around quite a bit that seems confused in knowing exactly what they want. And a prime example of that is a show called “A shot at love: with Tila Taquila.”  The show is about a girl who is trying to find a shot at love but she openly admits that she does not even know if she wants a women or a man. So I was just wondering why is it that a lot of bisexuals can not seem to admit that they are confused. Now I am not saying that all bisexuals are confused. But to me it would be less confusing to those involved, if that person would admit that they do not know what they want. And one thing I want to add is maybe if others would stop being so judgmental. Then maybe anyone not of the heterosexual orientation would be more honest!

Romance and Love?

December 7, 2007

In the article titled Romance :Sweet Love by bell hooks, It brought up a discussion that I have been thinking about myself for quite some time. The notion that women are the ones that are always conjering up and thinking about romance. But to me, men are the sole barriars of  romance. Men are the ones that are always thinking about sex and usually the ones to make the first move on a women. And I know quite a few men who are always thinking of ways to be romantic with or towards thier significant other. Now women may be MORE romantic most of the time, as far as ideas and what is most romantic. But men think about it just as mucha s women do. So I’m a bit confused as to why romantic ways have to be a femanine thing. As  with love or anything else that is related to the subject. And I would like to make the comment as well, as to say that when bell hooks stated that if men would socialize themselves to desire love as much as they do sex, then we would see a cultural revolution. That it was a very true accusation in my eyes and love would be a lot easier to find.
